A Guide for Teachers

  • Enjoy reading the story "Adventures in Abunda Gardens" to the students.

  • Enjoy reading other information from the book to your students that you feel they might enjoy.

  • Encourage youngsters to share what most intrigues them about the book and its characters?

  • Notice how the students understand description. Do they see the same images that you see?

  • Encourage your youngsters to look for words that are new to them in the book and then look those words up in a dictionary to make those words their own. Encourage them to use the words new to them in several sentences.

  • Invite students to draw the items described in the book. Acknowledge their efforts. Help them to enjoy their talents and abilities.

  • Do they enjoy bringing the Smart-Start recipes from the magical land of Abunda Gardens into their own classrooms and homes?

  • Encourage young readers to use their imaginations to create similar recipes to enjoy and to share with their families and friends.
